9th Grade College Admissions Guide

Welcome to high school! Your first year of high school is an exciting time, especially if you're transitioning to a new, probably much larger, school. Some of you may even be on your own at a boarding school for the first time. Regardless of where you are going to school—down the block, a bus ride away, or in another state—high school can be intimidating even for the most prepared student.

Go easy on yourself during the first few months while you get the lay of the land; not everything will go your way. At the same time, keep in mind that what you do during your freshman year does matter. If you're struggling academically, talk to your parents, your teachers, and your counselor. If you're having trouble socially, talk to the same folks. They're your advocates, and they're there to help you succeed.
